Terms of use

The terms a school agrees to when using ExamSafe.

What ExamSafe does

ExamSafe provides software for running supervised assessment on students' own computers, and a portal for staff to create and monitor sittings. It is a tool for a supervised room; it does not replace supervision.

What the school is responsible for

What ExamSafe does not guarantee

Software fails, networks drop, and laptops break. ExamSafe is built so that a failure keeps a student's work rather than losing it - work is saved continuously to the student's own computer, and a sitting continues if the server becomes unreachable. Even so, a school should not rely on it as the only record of a student's work, and should have a way to collect work by hand if it is needed.

ExamSafe is provided without warranty. It is not liable for a student's marks, for a sitting that could not run, or for work lost through hardware failure, a student's own actions, or a school's own systems.

Acceptable use

ExamSafe is for supervised assessment by a school with its own students. It may not be used to monitor people without their knowledge, nor for any purpose other than running the assessments a school has told its students about.

Ending use

A school may stop using ExamSafe at any time. On request, its data is deleted; submitted work stays in the school's Drive, which ExamSafe does not control. Access may be withdrawn from a school that uses the software contrary to these terms.

Changes

These terms may change as the software does. A school will be told of a material change before it takes effect.
